Happy
Birthday To Me!
.
.
Leah made me this most unusual and awesome cake. It had chocolate,
vanilla and strawberry layers. It was decorated with strawberries, passion
fruit, bananas, star fruit and chocolate chips with vanilla and chocolate
frosting! She also made the floral lei and haku (head piece) for
me from orchids. The green lei was made by a friend and was a combination
of leaves.
.
This was such a fun party, we had about fifty guests, food and
a special drink which I called "Happy Punch." I am trying to find the ingredients
for it to add to this page. There are about 20 different things that go
in it including fresh fruit and an assortment of liquor. We had to special
order the indian wine from the mainland. It was made by the gallons and
stored in wine flasks. It has to set for at least 24 hours before serving,
the longer the better and it took us a half a day to make it. BUT IT WAS
WORTH IT!!!
.
At some point, a piece of the crepe paper used for bannering the
house got attached to a blade on one of the ceiling fans, creating a swirling
art form which nearly reached the floor. After a few glasses of happy punch,
this became a high source of entertainment. Besides my family: Phillip,
Leah and Tara, the members of Backwash and other friends were present.
Tara got to wear a festive T-shirt and was plagued by the balloons floating
around the house all evening. She was scared of them. This was one of the
mellower parties thrown at Paradise Overlook, but so very enjoyable!
.
The party wasn't over until some time in the wee hours of the AM
and there were still guests crashed around the house the next morning.
