Me, checking under the hood of the Hummer. . After conducting four wheeling tours in altered Jeeps for over a year, driving a Humvee became one of my big fantasies. We had hoped to put them into use in our tours but could not afford it at the time. While visiting my good friend Trudy Vella on Kauai, we were unexpectedly given the opportunity to give one a spin. This was a double fantasy fulfillment because Trudy was the original "Safari Woman" and also shared the same Humvee dream. . Trudy by the Humvee, next to a cave on the north shore of Kauai.

Trudy, styling in front of the Humvee parked in front of a cave opening. . The owner of a tour company in Kauai, had just purchased a new Hummer to haul canoes with. His tours were located next to the property Trudy was managing at the time. When we approached him with full out Humvee lust, we were hoping at best, to be able to talk him into taking us for a ride. We were pretty blown away when he gave us the keys and asked that we be back by the end of the day. I don't think he knew of our background entirely, that we were famous for our abilities to handle and have fun with four wheeling sport utility vehicles on rugged (and dangerous) off road terrain. A typical fourwheeling trail on Kauai. . So needless to say, we had an absolute blast exploring the back roads and nearby areas. We put the Hummer to the test quite a few times. It seemed to be everything we had ever imagined and we had fun speculating on how much more exciting the four wheeling tours could be with the use of such a vehicle. So, as the official Hawaiian Safari Women, we both rated the HumVee a "10" for comfort, handling, power, STYLE & for all the SMILES and stares we got while driving it. I guess, if the tour owner, who is a very nice guy with GREAT RIVER CANOE TOURS ON THE NORTH SHORE OF KAUAI, ever comes across this page, I want him to know that we did NOT use all of our Safari skills in his vehicle. We didn't jump any mounds or take it sideways up the side of a mountain or go through thick brush .... we did respect the VALUE of what we had been so graciously loaned ... and I want him to know that he really, really MADE OUR DAY! MANY MAHALOS TO HIM!!!! . This was NOT a typical Self-Discovery, Healing and Transformation tour.
