ICY COLD WATER!
It was so shocking after all the heat and
it felt so cold it was almost unbearable to stay in for long. We walked
around and under the falls and swam for as long as we could stand it. All
we had to do was think of how hot we had been just moments earlier to stay
motivated to stay in. We waded and strolled around the area for a while
and then swam some more. It was truly wonderful!
.
We tore through our picnic lunch like ravenous
animals and drank as many fluids as we could while still saving enough
reserves for our trip back. Finally, we took the time to hang out and rest
on the rocks, just taking in the sights and sounds and feeling the special
forces of nature which were healing and invigorating. It was a powerful
experience. Everyone who had been here earlier had left and we had the
place all to ourselves. Our guide was right, we didn't regret making the
extra effort to be here regardless of how hard it had seemed during the
excursion.
.
We spent the next few hours strolling,
swimming and wading some more before preparing for the strenuous trip back
up the canyon wall, through the tunnel, across the desolate terrain and
back to our horses. At least we had the visit back at Havasu Falls to look
forward to.
