This is a photo of me horseback riding
along the trail we took to visit Havasupai and Mooney Falls. The temperature
was about 95 degrees and the heat was reflected back at us for the most
part off of the rocky canyon walls and the dusty trail. The landscape was
ever changing and mainly filled with either bright canyon colors or the
drab monotones of rock and sand. The ride took well over an hour before
we heard the rush of water that was unmistakably the sound of a waterfall.
As we rode along it was hard to believe any such thing could exist in these
surrondings. Our guide was very personable and we learned a great deal
about the ancient history and current events of his people. We had a tremendous
feeling of the sacred nature of the land.
