FROM THE BAND MOM 8/25/99
BACKWASH DECLARED THE
GREATEST BAND IN HAWAII!
.
Last Tuesday, I was stoked
to receive a call from Leah, announcing BACKWASH
was live on KAPOI, Hawaii's hottest radio station.
The first band ever to play live on the air there, they were invited to
do an unplugged version of "She's Wasted
Again." This was in response to
all the previous public demand to hear a copy of the song they had sent
in, responding to DJ Blazey's ragging on Ruthie, a local host for the recent
MTV spring
break show filmed in HI. (apparently Ruthie got pretty wasted) ............
Blazey picked on the band and the women who accompanied them but remarked
they would probably be seeing them on MTV soon. They were then introduced
as HAWAII'S GREATEST BAND!!!
(They got that right!) ............ I got to hear this over the phone and
it was truly great, unplugged and all. ............ I had to call in and
let them know I heard it all the way in Florida, where I am now. They were
stoked and Blazey asked questions about Phil as a child. In response to
"What was the worst trouble he ever got into?" I told about the time he
and a friend dressed in army fatigues, painted their faces in camouflage
and egged the entire community. This was on the air also WHOOPS, sorry
Phil! Anyways, the station promised to help them get some killer gigs,
THEY DESERVE THE ATTENTION AND THE TITLE!!!!
.............
So if your'e in Hawaii, or visit there
anytme soon, be sure to call KAPOI and request to hear "She's Wasted Again,"
by BACKWASH! It's coooooooool!

RECENT
RECORDING PROGRESS
From Boogie D 6/29/99
.
Hello Everyone,
Boogie here with the
latest update:
Well, things are shaping
up around here..... we have been working hard and putting in some serious
hours in the studio and now BACKWASH'S tracks, except for the back up vocals,
are finished. We made about 7 C-Ds of a rough mix to help us work
on the back ups and for the studio musicians......... and it sounds really
good!
.
Next we begin
recording the studio musicians...... here is some of the other instruments
we are planning on recording...... keyboards,
sax, trumpet, trombone, flute, harmonica, fiddle, slide guitar, percussion,
and a DJ scratcher. Plus we are planning on
recording some guest vocalists...So now we have a lot more work to do.......
We should begin recording with these people in about 1 month...... Its
looking like our CD release party
could be at Haleiwa Joe's on October 1, 1999....... They have invited us
to play and hopefully things will be done by then. We are taking way more
time and spending way more money than we planned but we want it to be perfect
for all our dedicated fans like YOU, who are just so good to us!......
So hang tight we are just as anxious as everyone to hear the final deal!
.
One last thing, THANKS

RECORDING PROGRESS
What's up everyone???????
This is Boogie with a new recording update ...... things are really starting
to move along now ..... we have completed the drum and bass tracks and
they sound great ...... Lang handled the pressure of having to play perfect
in one session ..... he nailed it!!!!!! My hats off to him for pulling
off the hardest job ..... weaze got his tracks completed after a
few technical difficulties and extra hours but he really sounds thick and
solid........ Nick and I went in this weekend and just about got all our
rhythm tracks down .... I was so sickly nervous at first but came on strong
in the end .... all we really have to do is a few wah wah tracks and our
lead tracks and we will be complete........ Next weekend we will complete
our leads and Phil will start his vocal tracking ..... so we are getting
closer and closer...... then once we get the whole band tracked it will
be time to lay down the brass sections and the key boards and all the other
little goodies we plan on adding to our c-d........ So far I am very stoked
on the sounds and it just keeps getting better and better with each track
we add ....... I cant wait to hear the final product and the anticipation
is pure torture......... so hang tight the goods will be there soon ...
We are still looking for sponsors to help produce our first thousand
c-ds ... those who help us now will receive great bonuses ....... e-mail
me at boogied@hawaii.rr.com
if you want to find out more ........... Aloha everyone, and keep checking
this site for updates, contests, and links to our official site (soon)
where you can order our stuff and down load our first album ..... PEACE

From PHIL 4/14/99
The tape
is rolling
and the tracks are being filled
one by one;
soon we will be done.
THE END IS NEAR!

BACKWASH's UPCOMING ALBUM
We finally begin recording tomorrow (3/20/99) and we are sounding
so good .......... It has been a long tough road back to the studio but
worth every minute of it ...... Nick has been ripping some incredible leads
lately and we are lucky to be able to record at this peak....... Phil's
voice has gotten so much better in the last year.............. When we
did the unplugged lounge show at the Sugar Bar he had some really great
moments........ Weaze has been improving also and has new songs to contribute
for the album after this one and has improved his lines on a few of the
old songs................ It has been a dream to have Lang back, he is
such a cool friend and has so much to offer the band............ He has
been making a lot of progress and the night we played the Sugar Bar we
did a lot of improvising; doing things that were unrehearsed and totally
unplanned ..............He managed to adapt and follow us down the yellow
brick road ............... It felt great to be able to read
each other so well and make it work.... As for me I feel very excited,
its like a dream come true to get back in the studio with my bros. ......
I have been ripping and the lead I do on the reggae
song was the best it ever sounded last night, on the very first take..............
I am just relieved to finally get this over and move on................
this album is going to be great and the next one, well, I am already thinking
about it and we have about 6 new songs ready to structure and write lyrics
for............. that's what I like the freedom to create ....... and lately
its been kind of stagnate rehearsing for the recording............... so
freedom is months away but it is there and we will continue to keep rocking
on and doing what we love.......... This album to me is about giving back
some of the love we have received from all of our dedicated fans over the
years who never cease to amaze me ..... this is for everyone who has ever
supported us........... so be patient BACKWASH's long awaited second album
will be available soon..........
ALOHA, BOOGIE-D
