A strongman, bodyguard, and all-around tough guy, Superstrong began rigorous physical training at 18 months. He prides himself on his ample bulk and physique, which he developed without the use of any anabolic steroids. He took over the all-important role of Unions' primary bodyguard after Bobo's career with the Hot Rods took off. To his surprise, Superstrong would himself eventually find himself in show business and in a new line of work.
In 1991, he successfully tried out for the syndicated TV beef-a-thon "American Gladiators." Producers found his physical performance extraordinary, while in the interview session, he came off as an "erudite linebacker in a crowd of towel boys." He made his debut on the show in the new fall season; while he thought Superstrong was "just fine" as a stage name, the producers did not agree and renamed him Bazooka. Superstrong sounded "way too corny for them."
Superstrong can lift a hundred pounds with his tongue and break a steel beam in half with his head.
