A quasi-professional tetherball player, Sobto twice served as the U.S. representative in the World Tetherball Championship. His big moment of fame came when he appeared as a victim on the short-lived NBC revival of "People Are Funny" in 1983.
Needlessly arrogant and foul-mouthed, Sobto's aggressive and often brutish behavior do not win him many friends. Unlike David, who plays for pleasure and excels at it, Sobto plays as a literal alternative to hitting people, although sometimes he winds up doing so anyway (with the ball, as Patrick found out). His disciplinary problems date back to elementary school and finger him as being academically less than gifted. As Patrick said, "you remind me of Mount St. Helens...you always blow your stack!"
Sobto once suffered serious injuries when the trick tetherball he used in a grudge match against Peter smashed into his face instead of Peter's fist. He underwent extensive cosmetic surgery, but the accident did not mellow him at all.
