David lives a dual life. By day, he operates Maxima Cleaners, a moderately-sized but profitable chain of dry cleaning stores in Southern California. At night and on weekends, he serves as tetherball ambassador to the world as the 3-time World Champion who popularized the sport during the 1980's and brought it from its haphazard playground roots to professional tournament status, a dramatic upward spiral rivaled only by pro beach volleyball.
David went by his middle name of Braxton when he first began playing professionally, upon the advice of a sports agent who thought he needed a more memorable tag. He served as Peter's trainer when the latter took up a tetherball regime as a means of regaining strength in his injured arm.
David is capable of wild, sometimes violent mood swings, typically induced by a spirited game of tetherball. Thus, some refer to him by the nickname "Incredible Hulk," which he finds offensive.
