The J-Pop Music Station

Greetings and welcome to the J-Pop Music Station, a website dedicated to making the popular music of Japan more accessible to English speaking music lovers the world over. I'm Ryu, the creator and keeper of this website. Featured here are English Romanization and Translation for hundreds of hit J-Pop songs by a variety of hit artists, such as L'arc en Ciel, Every Little Thing, Kuraki Mai, Zard, to name a few. Besides translations, you can also find my (often tongue-in-cheek) commentary on current events in the J-Pop world, as well as some other information that a J-Pop fan might find interesting. Feel free to browse around at your leisure, using the menu in the left-hand frame. Being primarily text-driven, you can be assured that even if you have a crappy old modem (like me), your download time will be as quick and painless as possible.

  Navigating the Site

  • TBS: This is my editorial section, where I share my (often facetious) views on the going-ons in the J-Pop industry... and pretty much anything else that I might be thinking about.
  • Translation Index: The main feature of this page. Artists are listed alphabetically, by family or group name as appropriate.
  • Ako-gi: My acoustic guitar page, with a handful of TABs for J-Pop songs.
  • Misc: A collection of stuff that really can't be classified under the other headings -- translations of magazine interviews, CD liner notes, interesting information tidbits, etc.
  • Links: 'Nuff said.
  • Contact: How you can get in touch with me for anything having to do with this website.
  • GC SoundScope: A simple little page I put up to give my fave band, Garnet Crow, some props.

      About the creator

I'm a US resident, Hawaii born and raised, and a student of Japanese language and culture since around middle school. I got hooked on J-Pop with Speed's 4th single, "Wake Me Up!," back in late 1997, and started this page not long after to practice my Japanese. Currently, my favorite J-Pop artists are Zard, Kuraki Mai, and Garnet Crow. In my free time, I enjoy basketball (playing and watching), reading, and fiddling with my guitar. Everything else about me is subject to a constant state of flux.
