English

On a night, so warm for a December eve
We went out, on the spur of a moment
Holding hands in the car, we slept
Until we were roused by the morning sun

It's just like Heaven
On this seaside, filled with light
There are times, when one is so filled with joy
That the tears just come, for no reason at all

Before I knew it, time had passed
And memories served to ease our pain as we grew apart
Leaving me bitter, in little time

Tell me, how much stronger must I become
In order to love without doubt
I want to live so strongly
That I can keep on giving to you
Without ever withering away
Invoking a transient prayer
I learn the meaning of loneliness, ah~
um-, I have so little time

Spinning a globe
I'd imagined unseen lands
And even then, it seemed you were always by my side
Ten years into the future, and even beyond that

When my flesh fills with satisfaction, I become afraid
And remember Mathilde *
Throwing myself into the river
I'll live forever

I dream of searching for you
While standing on a deserted street corner
I had found someone so irreplaceable
Giving me one more cross to bear
I want to become stronger
So I never wither away, ah~
um-, I have so little time

* Mathilde: A rather cryptic lyric. I've checked several encyclopedia entries, and also some other Garnet Crow fan pages, and the best conclusion I can come to is a reference to Mathilde Zemlinsky, wife of Arnold Schoenberg, an Austrian composer credited with creating the twelve-note system of music and considered one of the most influential composers of the 20th century. Mathilde died the same year that Schoenberg finished the twelve-tone composition method, so I guess that would fit the theme of being afraid in the midst of satisfaction.
