Pope C's Original? Words

Things I've written (and liked)
Note: everything here is pre-96; the very latest additions here were in
early 1995, and written much earlier than that. Cope.
Some comments
Essentially everything accessed from here was written for talk.bizarre.
Since that's Usenet, they were composed as pure ASCII text files. Some of these
are saved as posted; others are taken from the file as I uploaded for posting, in which
case there may be a few words of difference from the posted version.
I've done minimal reformatting to turn them into HTML documents. Essentially I haven't tried to change their
idiom to suit the new medium. They're still ASCII text, prettied up. They are not hypertext or multimedia. Maybe
that will come later, but I've got a lot of things I'd rather do first.
A quick taxonomy of what I've put in so far:
There will be more eventually, but don't hold your breath.

Very short pieces
For a while, t.b had a vogue of 100 word compositions. (Exactly 100
words, neither more nor less; Neil Gaiman said something about how these are
supposed to be called Drabblets.)
I wrote a few of these, some of which I've displayed here. I found it
rather liberating. That often seems to be the case with constrictive
literary forms. Perhaps it's this - if you are writing a sonnet, you are
freed from the internal pressure to make it be the Great American Novel.
Maybe I should write more of these.

Spontaneous pieces
These are some short to medium size pieces that just plain came to me and
wrote themselves out through me in a short period of time - a morning, a
couple of hours, an evening. All they needed was a little polishing.
It's sheer joy when that happens. Unfortunately it doesn't happen very often.

Rants
The pseudonymous Ivan Stang, one of the founders of the Church of the
Subgenius, has said that rants are the essentially American literary form.
I think he's right.
Three rants and a flame.

Morbid stuff
My muse has a fairly peculiar sense of humor and peculiar sources of
inspiration. Some of the things I write and think are pretty morbid. Here
are a few I posted to t.b.
Sharp Edges and Mirrors and Masks I edited into a 10 minute
monologue and read as part of a performance art piece in Honolulu last fall
(September '93.)
- Sharp Edges is sort of true about me. (And sort of not, of course.)
- Mirrors and Masks follows it, also sort of true/not.
Now illustrated!
- Suicide Machines (one of the better things I wrote in Spring 1994)
- Smart Cards (on business seminars?)
- I should put the Vaginal Retractor Monologues here, but that's a lot of work. Later.

Sometimes I have interesting dreams. Occasionally when I have interesting
dreams, I write them down. Occasionally when I have interesting dreams, and
I write them down, they're worth sharing.

Minor and miscellaneous pieces
They're all minor, but some are more minor than others.
