Movies

Three movies to keep an eye out for:

  • Burn Hollywood Burn
I'm still waiting to see how they showcase Jackie in this parody (?) of director-gone-bad cinematic projects. Sylvester Stallone and Whoopi Goldberg teams up with the Chan-meister. I think this may show late in '98.

  • Who Am I?
This one is a 100% Jackie Chan production - meaning Hollywood is not in control of it. Jackie is a secret government operative who loses his memory in a mission gone bad. But that is where the story really starts. Decent amount of fighting and lots of architectural navigation (for a lack of a common term). Enough intrigue and action to keep you watching although I would NOT rate this as one of his best. The different locations is also interesting because they film in South Africa and Holland. My only question is who is the actress in the role of the reporter?

This film has premiered in Asia already. The US has still not officially released it. I'm assuming the Hollywood companies have it secured in some contractual rights obligation. But I have seen it on tape from some Chinatown video store already.

  • Rush Hour
After so many years and a couple flops, Chan is back doing an full-featured American production. This time he has America's attention and they know what he can really do. Also Jackie teams up with fast talking comedic actor Chris Tucker.

    Turner Network T (TNT) - Chan-A-Rama

TNT is having a flurry of Jackie Chan movies - seven of them to be exact.

  • The Protector
  • Winners and Sinners
  • Rumble in the Bronx
  • Heart of a Dragon
  • Wheels on Meals
  • Dragons Forever
  • Young Master

The fun actually began on September 14 but the bulk of the shows start on Oct 6th.

You can check out the TNT's website schedule for HK movies .
