Local FAQ Page [Jackie's Mad Look]

THANKS
OK...first things first. I want to thank all of you who have sent me feedback or questions. I enjoy making the webpages as well as hearing from other JC fans around the world.

PURPOSE OF THE PAGE:
Sometimes I get a lot of e-mail with questions about Jackie Chan and related items. Naturally, some of those questions are the same. The purpose of this page is an attempt to answer a few of the basic questions that I am frequently asked.

All outside links are configured to open within a new browser window.

1) How can I contact Jackie Chan?

Once in awhile, someone sends me e-mail and... they say stuff like "I love your movies" or "please send me an autograph". Well... I guess its a case of mistaken identity in those instances. I am just a fan of Chan and not the actual Man. Hey... don't laugh. It really happens. No joke.

You can contact Jackie Chan through the following:

2) Is There a Jackie Chan Fan Club?

Yes, in fact there are several official fan clubs existing in different locations.

There is an Australian chapter, Canadian chapter, Japan chapter, US chapter, UK chapter, and an International chapter based in Hong Kong. Yaddi, yaddi, yaddi. :)

For additional information on each chapter, please go to my JC Fan Clubs page .

3) Can I trade video copies with you?

People are asking and offering me copies of movies. I will have to refuse any offers involving piracy.

In general, am open to selling, buying, and trading legitimate copies. But I am not looking for any movies right now nor am I ready to part with anything in my collection.

Previously, I suggested fans to submit their thoughts on trading videos but there was very little response. So that idea got trashed. But for those who may have the Jones (strong desire) to trade, here is a site that has a substantial amount of traders of various Asian movies. The Trader's Forum

4) Where do I get those movies?

This is one of the most frequent questions I receive. After commenting some great stuff about the other movies I guess some of you just can't help but ask about them.

The mainstream stores are slowing filling up their collection with Jackie Chan movies. Only the recent mainstream releases will be distributed in mass numbers. There are some older movies that are being sold at low prices by Simitar Entertainment, Inc. I don't recommend these because they are recorded in extended play mode which is a low-quality format.

Local Venues:
Go to your local video store that carries foreign films. Often times they will also have a small-to-decent selection of Hong Kong genre movies. Not all of them will have English dubbing or subtitles though. Unfortunately, not everyone lives near a good video store.

Other Possible Venues:
If you live near an Asian community or "Chinatown" then you may be lucky enough to find several video stores that carry JC movies. Jackie Chan is popular with several different Asian ethnic groups. For example, you may be able to find JC movies in a Vietnamese or a Korean video store as well as the Chinese ones.

Internet Venues:
Here is a short list of websites to help you find some JC movies. Select your choice below and click on the button:
World Video Golden Apple Comics
Criterion Collection Simitar Entertainment

5) Can you add my website?

Normally I don't add a website although someone requests it by e-mail. I usually add websites on my own initiative. Any requested links that I have added are very rare exceptions.

Here is my current policy on Internet links: Websites that I deem as unique and substantial will be added. Of course this is very vague and subject to my judgement and taste. Ninety nine percent of the time I refuse these requests.

Please don't take it personally if I don't add your website. I don't have anything against you or your website.

6) Where did you get that counter?

The visitor counter on the Main Page is configured to display Chinese numbers. The counter is resident on my ISP (Lava.Net). They installed it and made it available to their users.

The program is called "Count Release 2.3" by Muhammad A Muquit. Go to Lava's Access Counter Page to read more info on the subject.
