This page describes how to setup Windows 2000 for DSL via Static IP
Note: This setup is not recomended for a computer being used as a file server
Prerequisite: You will need to have a properly installed and working Network Interface Card (NIC).
Open the Network Control Panel
- Click on the "Start" button.
- Click on "Settings".
- Click on "Network and Dial-Up Connection".
- Click once on the "Local Area Connection" icon to highlight it.
- Click on the "File" menu and select "Properties".
- Verify that your Network Interface Card is listed under "Connect using".
- Double click on "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)".
Configure TCP/IP
- Click on "Use the following IP address:", then then fill out the "IP address", "Subnet mask", and "Default gateway" fields with the information provided to you by LavaNet.
Note: If you do not have this information or need assistance, please call LavaNet Tech Support.
- Click on "Use the following DNS server addresses:".
- In the "Preferred DNS server" field, type in "64.65.64.1".
- In the "Alternate DNS server" field, type in "64.65.64.65".
- Click "OK" out of all of these screens
- You should now be configured to use your LavaNet DSL.
