This page describes how to setup Free PPP
- Open the FreePPP Setup
- If the window is minimized, maximize it by clicking on the triangle in the bottom left-hand corner (If the screen is minimized it will look like the picture above.
- Click on the General tab
- Place an 'X' in the 'Check line every xx seconds' option.
- Place an 'X' in the 'Show alerts during connect and disconnect' option.
- Click on the 'Modem Setup' button.
- 'The Connected to: option should be set 'Modem Port'
- The Dial Type: option should be set to 'Tone'
- Place an 'X' in 'Modem speaker on while connecting'
- Place an 'X' in 'Hangup on disconnect'
- Under the 'Modem Init String Settings:' select 'Use:' and type 'at&f1'
- Click on the OK button
- Click on the 'Accounts' tab
- Click on the 'New' button (if you already have a LavaNet account listed here, you can highlight it and click on the 'Edit' button)
- In the 'Server Name:' field, type 'Lava.Net
- In the 'Phone Number' field, type the dialup number corresponding to your location and modem
- Verify that the 'Connect:' field is set to 'Directly'
- For 'User name:' type the first part of your Lavanet email address (the part before the @lava.net).
- For 'Password:' type your Lavanet password.
- Click on the 'Connection' tab.
- Set the 'Port Speed:' to '57600 bps'.
- Set the 'Flow Control:' to 'CTS only'.
- Click on the 'Options' tab.
- In the 'Domain Name:' field, type 'I'm not used'.
- In the 'Primary DNS:' field, type 'Me either'.
- In the 'Secondary DNS:' field, type 'Ditto'.
- Under the 'IP address:', place a dot in 'Assigned by PPP server'.
- Click on the 'OK' button.
- Click on the 'Locations' tab.
- Click on the 'New' button (if you already have a listing here, you can highlight it and click on the 'Edit' button).
- In the 'Location name:' field, type 'Oahu, HI'.
- In the 'Area code:' field, type '808'.
- Set the 'When account area code does not match location area code:' option to 'Do nothing'.
- Click on the 'OK' button
