DSL - Static - Printable - Windows 2000

This page describes how to setup Windows 2000 for DSL via Static IP Note: This setup is not recomended for a computer being used as a file server

Prerequisite: You will need to have a properly installed and working Network Interface Card (NIC).

Open the Network Control Panel

  • Click on the "Start" button.
  • Click on "Settings".
  • Click on "Network and Dial-Up Connection".
  • Click once on the "Local Area Connection" icon to highlight it.
  • Click on the "File" menu and select "Properties".


  • Verify that your Network Interface Card is listed under "Connect using".
  • Double click on "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)".

Configure TCP/IP

  • Click on "Use the following IP address:", then then fill out the "IP address", "Subnet mask", and "Default gateway" fields with the information provided to you by LavaNet.
 Note: If you do not have this information or need assistance, please call LavaNet Tech Support.
  • Click on "Use the following DNS server addresses:".
  • In the "Preferred DNS server" field, type in "64.65.64.1".
  • In the "Alternate DNS server" field, type in "64.65.64.65".
  • Click "OK" out of all of these screens
  • You should now be configured to use your LavaNet DSL.
