rcsedit

Description

rcsedit is a simple wrapper for RCS written in Perl. It takes care of calling the underlying RCS commands in order to maintain a file under RCS control, including initial check-in. It also goes beyond what RCS normally does by ensuring ownership, group, and permissions of the file are preserved.

Here at LavaNet, we use rcsedit to maintain all of our system configuration files. This allows us to easily track changes to the system, especially if something goes wrong and we need to do a roll back.

rcsedit works with perl 5.005_03 or later.

If you find rcsedit useful, please drop us a line. All suggestions, bug reports, comments, and general hoopla can be sent to

rcsedit at lava dot net
