
Tropical Agriculture is Our Business
Tropical agriculture is the main core of MIAT's technical
expertise. MIAT's specific areas of technical assistance include:
- Planning, execution, implementation, and monitoring of agricultural projects.
- Development of soil, water, and crop management strategies for
sustained and improved production of tropical crops. Crops include maize, rice, potato, sweet
potato, taro, cassava, beans, soybeans, peanuts, cowpeas, vegetables, ornamentals, and
others.
- Development of strategies for the management and conservation of
tropical soils.
- Assessment of environmental impacts of development projects and development of
mechanisms for attenuation and/or remediation.
- Organization and development of symposia, seminars, workshops, and training
programs in both Spanish and English.
- Publication of books, scientific papers, technical reports, and training
materials.
- Technical assistance in lawn and garden management and urban agriculture.
