Letters to the Editor

He Was A Runner

Touching essay about Peter... I just finished a run a couple of hours ago and now feel like running again after reading your story. Running is a gift. Sometimes we need to be reminded of that. Thanks.

Thanks for your poem on your friend Peter. I feel like I know him from your poem. Thanks!

Roberts: Telling It Like It Is

Excellent interview with Anne Roberts....telling it like it is.....no sugar coating. Her ideas should be followed up on. Although I am just an "individual" runner it is unbelievable that you can go to major running events in this country and find near-empty stadiums. The Olympic Trials, here in Atlanta, last year were sparsely attended. Heck lets put Ms. Roberts on the recruiting team for "Ollen's" replacement.....she's got spunk.

Roberts: Arrogant, Unprofessional

I just read the interview with Anne Roberts, and I'm flabberghasted. What an arrogant, unprofessional individual she is! It's no wonder she has such apparant difficulty working with organizations - if she speaks TO people the way she talks ABOUT them, they'd be well justified to not want to work with her.

She spends a lot of time criticizing the running community, but she personalizes her attacks against individuals. Calling people "bozos" is insulting, small-minded and unprofessional, and quite frankly, I have to question her level of intelligence at making such statements in a published forum. Doesn't she know people are reading this?!? Furthermore, she offers no real analysis of the problems or any realistic solutions.

Every organization, including the USATF, undergoes periods of good and bad, and at this critical time, it needs to the support of the running community, not the battering horn of people like Anne Roberts. Why don't you focus on individuals who are working in constructive ways to further the sport of running?
